Typography

Serif typefaces are defined by their "feet", which are yes, technically called feet. They're the little lines that poke out at the edges of letters.
The word "Sans" means without, so Sans-Serif typefaces are just like serif typefaces minus the feet.
When you want a fancy font with a lot of style, you may be thinking of a Script typeface. They are your cursive, sometimes handwritten looking fonts.

A shape is a self contained defined area of geometric or organic form. A positive shape in a painting automatically creates a negative shape.
Texture is the surface quality of a shape - rough, smooth, soft hard glossy etc. Texture can be physical (tactile) or visual.
