What is Web Design?

Web design is the process of creating websites. It encompasses several different aspects, including webpage layout, content production, and graphic design. While the terms web design and web development are often used interchangeably, web design is technically a subset of the broader category of web development.

What is a trend?

A trend is the general movement over time of a statistically detectable change, a genral movement, and/or a current style or preference.

What is Open Concept Design?

It consits of open compositions of loosely suspended elements that are fleeing somewhere off-screen are gaining popularity. Distribution of elements on these websites gives the impression that they still "exist" somewhere beyond the edge of the monitor.

What was the web like before?

Until recently the design world was dominated by compositions which were closed, symmetric, and static. In this year came a lot of websites that strayed from this style.

What is Typography in Web Design?

Typography is important. They might seem like an insignificant part of the design, but one should be really careful when choosing the right typeface and font size. Bad typography can ruin your design more than you think. Typography can really affect the way the user perceives data that is presented to them.

Typography trend of the Year:

Big and bold typefaces have been the trend for the year. Not only the bigger fonts are eye-catchy, they better utilize the white space on the website. The big typefaces are chosen to convey the message of the website or what the brand stands for.

What is Asymmetric Design?

This year also broke the rule of asymmetry, which dominated the industry for quite a long time. Many designers created asymmetric layouts which are not perfectly balanced on the left and right sides. Asymmetrical design techniques can be visually intriguing and create distinct focal points.

How to use Asymmetric Design:

The uses of asymmetrical design can be wide-ranging. Often the technique is used to create a sense of chaos or confusion. Asymmetry can emphasize motion or action. It is most frequently used to establish a feeling of dominance and focal point on the screen. There is not right or wrong to designing using asymmetry or symmetry. Some sites will even mix elements of each in the formation of the big picture.

What is Rich Web Design?

Increasingly, there are more backgrounds and patterns used in web design, for instance small dashes, stripes, or dots. Especially common is the grid pattern, which is treated as a "frame" for the other elements of the layout. Those elements are moved over the grid on the parallax principle and often are arranged in a chaotic manner.

How to make Rich Design work:

Designing a good website that accommodates a lot of content is a tricky balancing act to pull off. Does one attempt to present the user with all the information in a clean, organized manner, or reveal it bit-by-bit, in an effort to create an engaging breadcrumb trail that tugs the user along the road to enlightenment? Get it wrong, and you risk overwhelming your visitors, who’ll then leave without retaining any part of what they just read. Get it right, though, and you’ll have gained a new audience member who not only understands your message, but also might just bring a few friends with them when they return.

What is Dark Web Design?

Before this year designers used a variety of colors. However, you may notice a subtle tendency to shift toward dimmer tones. It got less popular to create websites that are completely white, in favor of using gradations of gray, textures, or patterns. Now it has become rather common to create darker websites, where black or its dark gradation fills the background and creates a slightly gloomy and sometimes bizarre mood.

Dark web design tips:

Dark web designs are very popular and can have an elegant and creative appeal. They are also perfect for many types of client work however, they are not suitable for every website and should be used only when appropriate. With a dark design comes less readability, less appeal for most readers and less opportunity for conventional design elements. Use More White Space, effective use of white space is important for any type of design, but it is essential for websites with dark backgrounds. Finding the perfect contrast means balancing the darkness of the background with the lightness of the text. To find the perfect balance, experiment with different shades. The best result is usually a background that isn’t pure black and text that isn’t pure white.
